Seattle’s LGBT activists are trying to claim there’s a ‘trans relocation crisis’ –

(LifeSiteNews) — Even by progressive standards, Seattle, the city of my birth, has a tenuous relationship with reality. In January, socialist Katie Wilson was elected as mayor; voters soon realized that having a “soft-on-crime” leftist who trashes wealthy taxpayers does not create optimal conditions for urban flourishing. Understandably, she has been reluctant to clear out the tent cities from city parks.

Wilson positioned herself as a rock-ribbed LGBT activist committed to protecting the trans activists leaving red states and heading into blue states like Washington.

“This Pride, I’m thinking especially of all the trans folks who are the target of so much hate right now on top of federal attacks on their basic rights to exist and participate in society,” she wrote last year. As Mayor, I’ll work with advocates to protect and support Seattle’s LGBTQ+ and trans communities, including those who are coming to Seattle to escape persecution and exclusion. This is your city. This is our city.

LGBT groups rewarded her with their endorsements.

Ms. Wilson’s candidacy comes at a time where our city’s immigrant, LGBTQIA+, and working-class residents continue to face immense inequality and economic hardships,” stated Seattle Gay News. “And at a time when the Trump administration is pulling back federal funding and targeting our most marginalized populations, Seattle more than ever needs a bold, innovative, and progressive leader to enact the necessary policies changes required to make our city safe and thriving for all.

Now that Wilson has become mayor, LGBT activists promptly produced their demands. The Seattle LGBTQ Commission and a network of other progressive groups have demanded that Wilson declare a civil emergency over what they are referring to as a “trans relocation crisis,” which comes in the form of thousands of “transgender refugees” fleeing red states to come to Seattle, an LGBT haven.

Their proposed solution: a taxpayer-funded bloodletting,” the New York Post reported on May 28. “On Saturday, radicals flooded the streets of Seattle to push their newfound cause. They insisted on publicly funded housing for trans-identifying newcomers and fresh streams of government money for service organizations that they, of course, would get paid to run. They want Wilson to declare an emergency that will clear the way for medical treatment, legal support, housing and expedited funding pipelines for these claimed new arrivals.

In short, LGBT activists want Seattle to treat trans-identifying Americans as formal “refugees,” and to lure them to Washington by essentially offering them a new start, housing and “medical treatment”—by which they mean sex change “treatments”—included. This despite the fact that the Seattle LGBTQ Commission admitted to having no data showing how many—or indeed, any—of these alleged refugees are arriving in the city.

The Antifa-linked Moto Hooligans are among the groups participating in the pressure campaign,” the New York Post noted. “That organization recently gained attention after organizing firearms training courses for transgender-identifying participants in wooded areas of Washington state.

Wilson quickly caved to the demands, affirming her “full support” for transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals and pledging to create a new city-backed civil rights team to “fortify critical services” — even though Seattle is facing an estimated $175 million budget deficit.Bottom of Form Seattle and King County have spent years creating an ecosystem where militant progressive activists can repeatedly manufacture “emergencies” and then position themselves as the only people qualified to solve them with public money.

The reality on the ground in Seattle, however, is that LGBT activists are happy to resort to violent, mafia-like tactics to maintain their dominance of public spaces. Last year, a horde of LGBT activists waving trans flags attacked a Christian prayer event; almost two dozen were arrested, and many charged. Then-mayor of Seattle Bruce Harrell condemned the Christian prayer event as a “far-right rally” and characterized it as deliberately provocative to LGBT people.

Perhaps red states might consider the inverse of Seattle’s policy of using taxpayer dollars to attract and fund LGBT activists, and instead offer Washington’s beleaguered Christian taxpayers incentives to leave the state.
