A federal judge has temporarily blocked President Donald Trump’s $1.776 anti-weaponization fund as litigation is in motion to challenge it.

The order from Clinton-nominated US District Judge Leonie Brinkema in Alexandria, Virginia, states that the Trump administration is barred from disbursing money from the fund, as well as taking any further action to create or operate the fund, including “the transferring of money to the Fund; the consideration of any claims submitted to the Fund; and the disbursement of any funds from the fund.” A hearing has been set for June 12 on the matter.

The White House declined to comment on the specifics of the fund in Wednesday’s press briefing, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent telling Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec that he could not comment on legal matters.

He said, “President Trump is a great American who has endured more than 10 years of non-stop harassment and weaponization from federal and state government actors. A bad actor at the IRS leaked more than 400,000 tax returns, including the Trump family, all the employees, that’s how we got here now.”

“No American should be targeted for political reasons, and every citizen deserves fair treatment and full protection of the law,” he continued.

The fund was created out of a settlement reached between Trump and the IRS over the leaking of the tax returns of himself, as well as sons Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump, and Trump Organization employees.

“Per the settlement, plaintiffs will receive a formal apology but no monetary payment or damages of any kind. They have agreed, in exchange for the creation of this fund, to drop their pending lawsuit with prejudice, and also withdraw two administrative claims including for damages resulting from the unlawful raid of Mar-a-Lago and the Russia-collusion hoax,” a DOJ press release stated.
