(LifeSiteNews) — Three major pro-life organizations launched a national public service announcement (PSA) campaign to increase public awareness of Abortion Pill Reversal (APR).

On May 7, Cogency StrategicHeartbeat International, and the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) announced in an article published by Christian NewsWire that they have joined forces to launch a campaign aimed at saving thousands of unborn children’s lives by promoting Abortion Pill Reversal. The campaign will include powerful 15-30-second video PSAs broadcast by the NRB — which pro-life advocacy groups, media outlets, and other organizations can distribute free of charge — to reach women during the pivotal moments after they have taken the abortion pill and still have time to reverse its devastating effects.

“Too often, women are told the story ends once the abortion pill is taken,” Nelly Roach, CEO of Cogency Strategic, said after the campaign’s launch. “This campaign is about making sure women know there are people ready to respond with support, resources, and immediate help.”

Troy A. Miller, president and CEO of NRB, similarly stressed that the campaign will help to inform women that the abortion pill is reversible and combat other common “misinformation” about the drug.

“Too many women simply don’t realize abortion pill reversal is possible. This campaign brings that information to scale with clarity and compassion, giving a voice to the vulnerable and making hope visible,” he said. “Life is precious no matter how small. Reversal is possible; it just needs to be communicated.”

During a chemical abortion, the first pill, mifepristone, attempts to starve the child developing in utero by blocking the pregnancy hormone progesterone. However, after taking the first pill, a woman can still change her mind. She can undergo emergency procedures to reverse the effects of the first pill.

Provided she has not taken the second pill, her baby can often be saved through this process, which is known as abortion pill reversal. The second drug of a chemical abortion is misoprostol, which is ingested 24-48 hours later, usually at home. Misoprostol causes the uterus to contract, expelling the baby. This can result in cramping and bleeding and often requires medical attention.

Jor-El Godsey, president of Heartbeat International, which also operates the Abortion Pill Rescue Network (APRN) and abortionpillreversal.com, emphasized that this initiative will give women the chance to change their minds about an abortion they’ve started before it’s too late.

“Women deserve the chance to change their mind about an abortion they’ve just started, to choose life for their baby,” he said.

As previously reported by LifeSiteNews, the prevalence of chemical abortions in the U.S. has rapidly increased since 2000 when the abortion pill was first approved for use by the FDA, especially as the government has rolled back abortion pill regulations. Since the 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortion pills have become key to the abortion lobby’s effort to preserve “access” despite the risks to the women who take them.

The latest data from the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute found 1,125,930 clinical abortions in 2025, a slight increase from 2024, that Guttmacher attributed in large part to abortion pills. Planned Parenthood’s 2024-2025 annual report boasts it alone committed 434,450 abortions, a record number for the organization and 8% more than the previous year.

Pro-lifers also point to an April 2025 analysis by the Ethics & Public Policy Center (EPPC) concluded almost 11% of women suffer sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or other major conditions after taking mifepristone, according to insurance data, plus similar findings by the Restoration of America Foundation as part of a “growing body of evidence indicating that the health risks associated with mifepristone abortions are severe, widespread, and significantly underreported.

Godsey added that the Abortion Pill Rescue Network’s efforts across the globe have already saved more than 8,000 unborn lives through their global efforts.
