Wales news: Trans ex-soldier jailed for masturbating in front of horrified nurses
A transgender Falklands veteran has been jailed for masturbating in front of nurses.
“Paula” Stanton, 62, of Severn Avenue in Barry, committed the sexual act at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff during the early hours of Sunday, May 17.
Stanton had been taken to the hospital by ambulance for a mental health assessment after concerns of a threat to self-harm, Cardiff Magistrates’ Court heard.
Lewis Ball, prosecuting, described the pervert as a woman throughout the trial, even using the term “her penis”.
“The defendant put her hands down her leggings to the groin area,” Mr Ball said.
“Staff could see that she had her penis in her hand and that her hand was moving up and down.”
The prosecutor added the movement was happening “on and off”.
Stanton also “made eye contact with one nurse” while touching himself, Mr Ball said.

Police were called and when officers turned up to arrest the ex-soldier, Stanton said he had “done nothing wrong”.
The veteran pleaded guilty to carrying out an act of outraging public decency.
The case has also drawn the attention of outspoken gender-critical MP Rosie Duffield, who said it was “ridiculous” prosecutors referred to Stanton with female pronouns.
“Everyone with eyes can see this is a sick old man with a joke of a wig on his idiot head,” she said.

Ms Duffield went on to condemn the “infinite stupidity and woman-hate of calling this fool a ‘she’ when not a single actual woman has ever behaved like this”.
Stanton has 12 previous convictions for 19 offences, with many offences including outraging public decency and indecent exposure.
In August 2024, the ex-soldier was jailed for a year for two counts of committing an act outraging public decency.
Stanton was seen touching himself sexually in his flat window while wearing a black bra and white knickers under his dressing gown.

The veteran also left a note under one victim’s car windscreen asking her to keep looking.
The latest offence puts Stanton in breach of a six-month suspended prison sentence imposed in August of last year.
The judge, Recorder Barry Clarke, told the defendant his offending was so serious that only an immediate custodial sentence could be justified.
Stanton has been jailed for 100 days for outraging public decency and a consecutive term of 60 days for being in breach of the suspended sentence.
Around 40 per cent of the 160-day prison sentence will be served in custody before being released on licence.
