Green Party Leader Zack Polanski has been condemned for a retweet criticising the heroic police officers who disarmed the Golders Green attacker as ‘heavy-handed’. The Mail has more.

Sir Keir Starmer was booed when he dodged Jewish protesters as he visited the scene of the Golders Green terror attack today.

The Prime Minister was heckled as he sped past crowds chanting “Keir Starmer, Jew harmer” and “traitor” in north London on Thursday.

It came as fellow Left-winger, Green Party leader Zack Polanski, retweeted a post suggesting hero policemen who disarmed the terror suspect after he knifed two Jews had been too heavy-handed.

Protesters in Golders Green showed their anger at Sir Keir because he had failed to come to the area until 24 hours after the horrifying antisemitic attack, calling him a “coward” for not facing them.

One of the victims, Shloime Rand, 34, said from his hospital bed today that he held the Government responsible and that it is a “miracle” he survived being stabbed in the chest.

At lunchtime the Labour leader’s police convoy took him away from the crowds heckling him. He was instead whisked into a closed doors meeting at the new headquarters of the local Jewish ambulance service Hatzollah. …

Green Party leader Zack Polanski has been accused of endorsing a tweet that said the officers were acting “violently” towards the knifeman who was Tasered after allegedly stabbing Rand and Moshe Shine, 76.

Rand alleged that Sir Keir’s administration is “not doing its job” to protect Jewish people in the UK, who he says are “afraid” and “uncomfortable walking in the street”.

Asked whether he felt let down by the Government, he said “definitely”. …

Footage of the incident showed the suspect refusing to drop the knife after the attack that began at a north London bus stop. It is now being treated as terrorism.

The suspect, who was described as a British national born in Somalia, was brought to the ground and arrested while carrying the blade and a backpack that police had no idea if it carried explosives.

In a statement at the scene Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley described the double attempted murder as a “horrendous act of violence” and revealed the motive was antisemitism. He also said the suspect had a “history of serious violence and mental health issues”.

In response later reposted by the leader of the Greens, an online critic said: “So essentially his officers were repeatedly and violently kicking a mentally ill man in the head when he was already incapacitated by Taser.”

It has led to accusations that Polanski, who has previously said he would like to be the next Prime Minister, was “more concerned” about the suspected terrorist’s wellbeing than those he is accused of stabbing in the street.

The Daily Mail has asked Polanski to comment.

Last night a party spokesman said of the attack: “This was an appalling act of antisemitic violence. Jewish people deserve safety and belonging wherever they live and we stand in solidarity with the British Jewish community.

“Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones and we pay tribute to the emergency services, including Hatzola ambulances, for their swift response.”

But the party leader’s retweet has led to widespread criticism.

Stop Press: Two Green Party candidates have been arrested on suspicion of stirring up racial hatred for allegedly posting antisemitic comments online. A post by Saiqa Ali is understood to show an image of an armed man in a Hamas headband (a proscribed terrorist organisation) under the slogan “resistance is freedom” while a post by Sabine Mairey includes a picture of a man holding a placard that reads “ramming a synagogue isn’t antisemitism, it’s revenge”.
