NEW: FBI launches task force to catch domestic terrorists behind Tesla attacks
“Acts of violence, vandalism, and domestic terrorism — like the recent Tesla attacks — will be pursued with the full force of the law.”
The FBI has put together a task force to catch the domestic terrorists who have been committing targeted crimes against Tesla in the United States.
According to the New York Post, the agency has formed a 10-person task force that will deploy personnel from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in the Treasury Department as well as the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division to investigate the attacks.
“[FBI] Director [Kash] Patel has been unequivocally clear: The FBI will be relentless in its mission to protect the American people,” the FBI told the outlet “Acts of violence, vandalism, and domestic terrorism — like the recent Tesla attacks — will be pursued with the full force of the law.”
Former FBI supervisory special agent Rob Chadwick told reporters, “These attacks clearly meet the FBI’s established definition of domestic terrorism. We’re talking about coordinated, violent acts targeting a specific company, motivated by ideological beliefs — whether environmental, political, or social. The FBI defines domestic terrorism as violent, criminal acts committed by individuals or groups within the United States, motivated by domestic ideological goals, to intimidate or coerce a civilian population or influence government policy.”
Over the course of the last month, the FBI has gotten 48 reports where Tesla cars, dealerships, or charging stations getting attacked. The bureau is treating the attacks like domestic terror attacks as there has been backlash from the left over Elon Musk and his work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has already launched charges against three people that have been involved in the attacks, labeling them cases of “domestic terrorism.” The cases were in Salem, Oregon; Loveland, Colorado; and Charleston, South Carolina.
