New anti-woke leader helps Conservatives poll ahead of current BC government – LifeSite
(LifeSiteNews) — The Conservative Party of British Columbia with a new anti-woke leader is now polling ahead of the current socialist NDP government that it hopes to topple soon in a general election.
A recent poll conducted by Leger in early June shows that new British Columbia Conservative Party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay, a former federal Conservative MP and federal cabinet minister, has a five-point lead over Premier David Eby’s NDP.
Overall, the Conservative Party sits at 45 percent support compared with the NDP’s 42 percent among decided voters. A previous poll showed that the BC Conservatives were at 40 percent.
The current provincial government in British Columbia under Eby supports abortion, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI), and euthanasia.
Leger noted in a statement that Findlay’s “leadership is also beginning to shape perceptions of the BC Conservatives, though many British Columbians are still getting to know her.”
“Awareness of the leadership change is high, but familiarity with Findlay remains limited, leaving room for opinions to shift as she becomes more visible,” Leger said.
What’s interesting to observe from the polling data was that only 26 percent of respondents knew who Findlay was, yet she was already seen as the primary choice.
LifeSiteNews reported on May 30 that Findlay won the leadership of the B.C. Conservatives after a close battle.
In Findlay’s victory speech, she directly said that God, faith, family, and freedom are her top priorities.
During the campaign, Findlay promised she would stop SOGI programs in schools and oppose “gender ideology.” These policies were put in place in 2016 by the former Liberal provincial government.
She was asked about this promise to stop SOGI, saying, “No one should be afraid. I want to protect children. I want to help children.”
Findlay recently doubled down on her promise to stop the spread of radical “gender ideology.”
In her victory speech, she said, “What am I fighting for? I’m fighting for nothing less than the future of British Columbia; our way of life.”
Findlay is a close colleague of former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. She served under him in his cabinet for a time in the 2010s and last served as a federal MP in 2025.
Findlay and other leadership candidates had promised to call for a full repeal of B.C.’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA). This policy is linked to the UN’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and calls for more indigenous land, consent, and governance rights.
She was also a vocal opponent of the drug epidemic plaguing British Columbia as a result of federal and provincial lax drug policies.
