This is a version of a live presentation given to the Alberta Women’s Institute (AWI) District 5 meeting in May of 2026. AWI is a venerable organization formed in 1909 with a mandate “For Home and Country.” The presentation covers a number of points, for instance, that the consumer carbon tax is only zero-ed – not gone.  Please see the PDF file below.

While Minister Drabusin and Prime Minister Mark Carney claim the industrial carbon tax has ‘zero’ impact on households, other research shows it has significant impacts. Minister Drabusin and PM Carney rely on reports from the Canadian Climate Institute, a ‘charity’ that is 74.91% funded by government, for some ~$6.9 million of its $7 million budget. The consumer carbon tax may be zero-ed, but the industrial carbon tax remains and it impacts everything we use – costs are passed on to consumers. What is the justification for the carbon tax (and thus carbon trading markets)? These markets rely on the claim of an impending ‘climate emergency’. Where does the ‘climate emergency’ come from? This was based on a computer modelled scenario known as RCP 8.5 – recently rejected as ‘implausible’ by climate science community. We will also explore the claim that Canada is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world and we have a look at whether wildfires and extreme weather are caused by humans. A few other climate science insights round out the presentation. It turns out that carbon dioxide provides a net BENEFIT to society, rather than imposing a burden of cost.
