The House of Representatives voted on Thursday by voice vote to send a DHS funding package to President Donald Trump’s desk. The move comes after a months-long stalemate on the issue of funding for DHS to end a partial government shutdown, but the bill does not include funding for ICE or Border Patrol.

The bill as passed will now go to President Donald Trump’s desk to be signed. The bill had ben passed in the Senate by unanimous consent on March 27. On Monday, House Speaker Mike Johnson said the bill has “some problematic language” and added that the bill was “haphazardly drafted.”

There has been a partial government shutdown with DHS for 76 days leading up to the House passing the DHS funding package. Although funding for ICE and Border is not in the package, both agencies have been running from funding that was included in the “One Big Beautiful Bill” that was passed last year.

The record shutdown will end once Trump signs the bill. Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Johnson eventually decided to have a two-way track plan to fund both DHS generally as well as a package for ICE and Border Patrol. The package for ICE and Border Patrol will be going through the budget reconciliation process, which allows the Senate to pass budgetary policy without having to reach 60 votes to overcome the filibuster. Trump has said he wants the ICE and Border Patrol package on his desk by June 1.

During the shutdown, Trump ordered that DHS pay employees in March as TSA line and other agency operations were falling behind.
