Rain Stops Play – Solution? If the ball children can hold umbrellas up over the players heads when the sun is shining, couldn’t they do the same when it’s raining? Excellent exercise.

At Wimbledon currently, “Ponchoed” up and in the queue for the used balls. We are discussing how every ball should come in a surprise box and then you can know who’s played with the ball you’ve bought!

    Tauson 4-4 Rybakina*

The cover is out and, as Gary says, plenty of those watching from the stands have decided to head for shelter.

Play has stopped on all of the outside courts for the time being and there is not indication as to when we will get back under way.

It is raining quite heavily now. Umbrellas up and people are making a rapid dart to the exits.

The umpire has just stepped down from his chair to touch the grass as we see umbrellas going up in the crowd on court two.

The decision has been taken to suspend play.

And as I type that it is spitting again and some people in the crowds are scrambling for jackets or towels to cover themselves.

  13. Tauson holdspublished at 11:47 British Summer Time

    Tauson 4-4 Rybakina*

Gary mentioned that court two is largely sheltered from the wind due to the high stands, but Clara Tauson is having a couple of issues with her ball toss on serve.

The rain is coming down a little heavier now and Clara Tauson is not happy as she loses her footing slightly. The Dane does still come through that point to seal the hold.

Former British player on BBC TV

Rybakina needs to not rush between points. She is very cool and calm and saunters round the court. She is standing really wide on her serve point.

At times she has been caught out by the changes from Tauson. Tauson is comfortable on the baseline and doesn’t look to get towards the net often.

    .

Moody clouds above Wimbledon today and it was spitting fairly heavily on my way here to court two but it’s stopped now. The wind has picked up a bit but that’s no issue at this court, where the stands are quite high around it.

  16. Rybakina holdspublished at 11:42 British Summer Time

    *Tauson 3-4 Rybakina

Elena Rybakina gets back to advantage and Clara Tauson opts to attack her first serve, but it’s the wrong call and ends up flying long.

    Rybakina survives another scare.

  17. Second deucepublished at 11:41 British Summer Time

    Tauson 3-3 Rybakina*

Elena Rybakina comes up with the big serves when it matters, though.

A couple of fine efforts take her to deuce and then advantage.

But Clara Tauson is not letting the game go just yet and rips a forehand winner.

  18. Break points Tausonpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time

    Tauson 3-3 Rybakina*

Elena Rybakina is still looking a little off on serve.

The 11th seed trails 15-40 and has to defend a further two break points.

Australian 16th seed Daria Kasatkina is struggling against Russian Liudmila Samsonova, who takes the opening set 6-2. They were level at 2-2 before Samsonova blew Kasatkina away, winning four successive games and finishing the set in just 27 minutes.

Over on court 12, Italian Flavio Cobolli leads 6-2 against Czech 15th seed Jakub Mensik in a set that also lasted 27 minutes.

    What are the chances?

  20. Postpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time

    Tauson 3-3 Rybakina*

Elena Rybakina and Clara Tauson has met twice previously on the WTA Tour with the former winning both, although this is the first time they’ve met when both are flying high in the world rankings and it’s looking much more competitive.
