The Trump White House team joined Bluesky this past week, where much of the left-wing social media world takes place, and immediately trolled its opponents on the social media platform. Many left-wing accounts reacted negatively to the news.

“What’s up, Bluesky?” the White House posted with a video that put together several highlights from Trump’s presidency as well as the inauguration. At one point, the video showed the name of the “Gulf of Mexico” changing to the “Gulf of America.”

”We thought you might’ve missed some of our greatest hits, so we put this together for you. Can’t wait to spend more quality time together!” the White House added in the first post.

The video also used the edited photos of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries in a sombrero, which has become a meme in recent days as more and more social media users have been posting themselves and others in a sombrero as a joke.

One user posted, “Nobody wants you here.” Multiple others commented that Trump was “not our president.” Others made accusations against Trump related to the Epstein files.

After Elon Musk bought up X in 2022, many disgruntled users of the social media platform, often on the left, moved over to Bluesky for their political discourse and social media consumption.

Vice President JD Vance made the move in June over to the platform. On Saturday, as many were taking to the streets to protest Trump around the country as part of the “No Kings” protest, Vance also trolled those on Bluesky, posting an AI video of Trump putting on a crown.

In addition to the White House, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security have launched accounts on Bluesky.

In DHS’s first post to Bluesky, the agency said, “Hello, Patriots! DHS is here to appeal to your patriotic spirit and ask that you lend us a hand in stopping the Democrats’ government shutdown. To all the Americans on Bluesky, your homeland needs all of us to work together,” with a video of their account set up.
