“When the system wants you it doesn’t make a difference. If you’re Michael Cohen, Lara Trump or President Trump, the system will always get you.”

Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen sat down with Lara Trump for an extended interview on her podcast “The Right View,” where he said that the justice system can get anyone, including President Donald Trump.

The conversation came after Cohen wrote in a Substack post that he felt “pressured and coerced” to testify against Trump after he was subpoenaed by New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg to testify in their cases against the president during the Biden administration. Trump’s legal team ordering the production of “all records of all communications between Michael D. Cohen” and the Democratic AG, per the New York Post.

Lara Trump asked Cohen in the conversation if he had felt that the cases brought against Trump by James as well as Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg were politically motivated. He responded, “Personally, I believe that as an example, when Tish James used as her platform that she was going to go after the president. I don’t care if it’s the president. I don’t care if it was Donald Trump. It should never be against anybody that no politician should run on a platform of going after a specific individual. If you want to go after them because that person committed a crime, do so, but to make it your political platform, that’s the part that I take offense to.”

“Many people under the same circumstances would also then be brought before the system. And the truth is, very few, if anybody else, in my estimation, ever have been,” he added. Lara Trump then asked Cohen about how he wrote in his Substack that the system is corrupted. He then detailed how prosecutors have a huge amount of leverage over defendants, citing his own criminal trial as an example.

“The very first time I ever heard from [prosecutors] was after they spoke to my lawyer on a Friday at 5:30 pm where they told him, ‘If Mr. Cohen doesn’t come in on Monday at 9am to plead guilty, we’re filing an 80 page indictment that’s going to include his wife.'” He emphasized that the justice system can “always get you” no matter who you are.

“The entire Justice Department, as it says in the book three felonies a day, needs a complete and total overhaul. These cases, the manner to which prosecutors act. It’s wrong. It’s not justice. Yes, we may be a country of laws, but there is no justice if the system wants you. And when the system wants you it doesn’t make a difference. If you’re Michael Cohen Lara Trump or President Trump, the system will always get you.”
