(LifeSiteNews) – The world’s first pro-life campaigning organization announced the lineup for its 2025 National Conference set to take place September 19-21.
The United Kingdom’s Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) hopes to build on recent momentum to make this its “biggest and best ever” National Conference to date.
Obianuju Ekeocha, founder of Culture of Life Africa, leads this year’s speaker lineup. She will be joined by Jonathon Van Maren, a Canadian journalist and pro-life author affiliated with LifeSiteNews, along with Professor David Albert Jones, director of the Anscombe Bioethics Centre.
The event, taking place in Yarnfield Park, Staffordshire, will tackle abortion, assisted suicide, and the cultural pressures facing families and medical professionals. It will also provide workshops and networking opportunities for both longtime advocates and newcomers to the movement.
The last National Conference was held in 2023. Since then, SPUC has hosted several local and youth events with strong turnout, marking a clear return to form after COVID disruptions.
The most recent Youth Conference in February 2025 saw over 200 young people gather under the theme “Unmuted” to reject censorship and defend life in an increasingly hostile culture.
Past conferences have featured emotional testimony, expert legal analysis, and field updates from SPUC’s lobbying, education, and outreach teams.
In 2023, speakers referred to Sophie Scholl and the White Rose movement as examples of moral clarity and courage when working against the dominant outlooks of society. At the 2024 Youth Conference, Dr. Dermot Kearney, a physician, described the mounting opposition he faced for offering abortion pill reversal treatment.
Michael Robinson, executive director at SPUC, told LifeSiteNews:
At a time when the right to life is under sustained attack, gatherings like this are not optional, they are essential. They offer more than encouragement; they offer formation, focus, and the strength that comes from unity. In the midst of our Fight Back campaign, where we are confronting efforts to decriminalise abortion and introduce assisted suicide, we need each other more than ever.
When we come together as pro-lifers, we remind ourselves that we are part of something much bigger than our own local efforts or personal convictions. We are part of a movement grounded in truth and animated by love. We build lasting friendships, renew our courage, and sharpen our thinking.
The calibre of speakers we’ve assembled reflects the urgency of our mission. These are men and women who are leading the way — in law, in education, in media, and in grassroots activism. They are equipping us not just to hold the line but to push it forward.
And let me be clear: SPUC will always be front and centre in the fight to defeat the culture of death. We are committed to leading with courage, conviction, and compassion — and we will never step back from defending the most vulnerable, no matter how fierce the opposition.
This is what the pro-life movement needs right now: community, clarity, and conviction. And this gathering delivers all three.
Registration is open, with early bird pricing available until the end of July. Organizers are emphasizing the importance of continued momentum across all age groups. Two-thirds of the national delegates in 2023 were first-time attendees, and this year’s early interest suggests another influx of new pro-life voices.
