Member of the Women’s Rights Network Cathy Larkman has hailed the “bravery” of those who fought to get the ruling from the Supreme Court in favour of “biological women”, despite the swathes of “death threats” they faced.

Following a challenge by the For Women Scotland group, the court ruled that women are determined by “biological sex”, not those who are transgender and identify as women.

Storming the streets of London over the weekend, transgender protesters demonstrated against the landmark ruling, choosing to graffiti on key women’s rights figures – including Suffragette Millicent Fawcett.

Discussing the ruling on GB News, Larkman told host Martin Daubney that despite the Supreme Court’s decision, there are NHS trusts which are choosing to “ignore the rules” on single sex spaces.

She added: “Many women have attended meetings and, and various different events where we’ve had to sort of run the gauntlet of horrendous banners outside, calling for our death and destruction, to be quite frank.

“Chanting, saying some extraordinarily offensive things about us, and wishing violence upon us. And we’ve seen this at the rallies at the weekend as well.”

Hailing the “bravery” of those women who continue to fight for women’s rights, Larkman told GB News: “I’ve been in many of those meetings myself, and so the bravery of the women who brought this action before the Supreme Court like For Women Scotland can’t be overstated.

“As is the case for all the women’s groups involved in this, including the Women’s Rights network that I represent.”

Sharing more details on the NHS trusts “ignoring” single-sex spaces, Larkman claimed that women are being placed in single-sex wards containing “biological men”.

She concluded: “Vulnerable women have been put in hospital wards that have purportedly been single-sex hospital wards, and there have been men in them.

“I’ve been fighting a long fight with the police service nationally, who’ve been determined to bring in opposite sex strip and intimate searching, and have signed off on policies to do that.

“Which is quite extraordinary, given all that they say about being dedicated to dealing with violence against women and girls.”

She added: “So we shouldn’t underestimate how much huge organisations have been prepared to sell off women’s rights and go along with this. It’s going to take a long time to pull all those policies out.”
