NEW: Trump slams Starmer for looking to ‘join war after we’ve already won’
President Donald Trump has slammed UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, saying on Truth Social that the UK only offered to help with the war effort in Iran “after we’ve already won.”
“The United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, maybe the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East. That’s OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need them any longer — But we will remember. We don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!” Trump said in a post to Truth Social.
The post from Trump comes after Starmer’s refusal to allow for the US to use UK bases for the blitz against the Iran regime. “I’m not happy with the UK,” Trump said on March 3, and added that London has been “uncooperative” with the US. “This is not Winston Churchill that we’re dealing with,” Trump added when speaking about Starmer.
Nigel Farage, the leader of the conservative Reeform UK party in the country said, “I think not to support America when it asks for support is a pretty extraordinary thing to have done.” Starmer initially blocked the US from using British military bases for Operation Epic Fury, but later after being slammed by Trump on the issue allowed for the US to use the bases for “defensive strikes.”
“I think there’s been less than wholehearted support has come for the Americans in this endeavor. And I think the British Prime Minister on the world stage, he’s upset the Americans,” Farage added, per Fox News. “He’s upset the Cypriots. He’s upset the Gulf states. And he’s pretty friendless at the moment.”
