Mike Johnson open to Obama testifying before Congress over Russia collusion hoax
House Speaker Mike Johnson said that he was open to having former President Barack Obama testify before Congress over accusations from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard that he and others in his administration were involved in developing the Russia-Trump collusion hoax.
Johnson was speaking to David Brody in an interview on Monday evening where Brody asked the question of whether or not the House would have concerns over bringing in Obama to testify.
“Does it get tricky at all with the former president, President Obama, looking at what his role in this is and bringing him in for some sort of deposition or potential subpoena,” Brody asked.
“We have no concern about that. If it’s uncomfortable for him, he shouldn’t have been involved in overseeing this, which is what it appears to us has happened,” Johnson said in response.
In the interview, Johnson said that the revelations from Gabbard on the Russia collusion hoax concerning Obama and administration officials were “deeply problematic” and that he has the “responsibility to follow the truth where it leads.”
Concerning other members of Obama’s administration, Johnson said, “And I do expect that whether there’s a special counsel appointed, which some are suggesting, and/or in conjunction with the house investigations, that we will get the answers and there will be accountability to the extent that we’re able to do that, referring people to the DOJ for prosecution and any other measure that is appropriate as we begin to uncover more of the facts.”
