Leftists at Soros-funded ‘Hands Off’ protests claim democracy is dying and Trump is a dictator
The protesters were part of a broader movement that took place on Saturday in over 1,000 locations across the United States.
Left-wing protesters who gathered in Washington, DC on Saturday as part of the nationwide “Hands Off” demonstrations said they were protesting “everything” happening in the country right now under the Trump administration, comparing the democratically-elected president to a dictator and a king.
Turning Point USA Frontlines Reporter Monica Paige interviewed several demonstrators at the Washington, DC protest near the Washington Monument. When asked what their top issue was, a number of attendees simply responded that they were protesting “everything.”
Several protesters claimed they were speaking out against what they claimed was the decline of democracy in the US, with one stating the current administration is the “antithesis” of democracy. Others carried signs likening Donald Trump to a king, dictator, or fascist.
One man holding a sign identifying himself as a veteran said he hoped “Congress, the police, the military, and the media” would “push back against the authoritarianism.”
Another protester held a sign that read, “Democracy dies when Democrats do not vote.” She argued that Trump did not win the 2024 election by a landslide and would have lost had more Democrats turned out. “They cost us this election,” she said, adding that her freedoms are now “under attack.” Her message to the Democratic Party was that it needed to “get out and vote.”
The protesters were part of a broader movement that took place on Saturday in over 1,000 locations across the United States. The protests, labeled as “Hands Off,” were organized by the George Soros-funded group Indivisible. The coalition’s website claimed that “Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them” and that “they’re taking everything they can get their hands on, and daring the world to stop them.”
The Washington, DC event drew thousands of participants to the grass near the Washington Monument, forming one of the largest of the nationwide demonstrations.
