Prince Harry has revealed he does not know how long King Charles has left to live in an emotional TV interview.

The Duke of Sussex expressed his desire for reconciliation with the Royal Family amid ongoing tensions.

Harry claimed his father is not speaking to him because of his battle over taxpayer-funded police bodyguards.

The interview comes just days after the King described the “daunting” and “frightening” experience of being told you have cancer.

The Duke lost his appeal in court over his security arrangements, which he described as “devastating” in the interview conducted in California.

Harry told the BBC: “He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff,” referring to his father King Charles.

The royal’s court battle over taxpayer-funded police protection has reportedly cost him £1.5 million in legal fees after losing his appeal.

Harry said: “There have been so many disagreements, differences between me and some of my family this current situation that has been now ongoing for five years with regards to human life and safety is the sticking point it is the only thing that’s left.”

The Duke acknowledged the lasting impact of his memoir on family relations.

“Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book, of course they will never forgive me for lots of things,” he said.

Despite these tensions, Harry emphasised his desire to heal the rift.

“I would love reconciliation with my family there’s no point in continuing to fight anymore, as I said life is precious,” he told the BBC.

When asked if he had pleaded with the King to intervene in the security dispute, Harry clarified: “I never asked him to intervene – I asked him to step out of the way and let the experts do their jobs.”

The Duke suggested the King has the power to resolve the situation.

“There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hand, ultimately this whole thing could be resolved through him,” Harry explained.

He added that resolution could come “not necessarily by intervening but by stepping aside allowing the experts to do what is necessary and to carry out an RMB.”
