Keir Starmer warns Cabinet of ANOTHER summer of riots after protests outside three asylum hotels

Sir Keir Starmer has warned his Cabinet to repair ‘”social fabric” or risk another summer of anti-immigration riots.
Pressure is mounting on the Government as a trio of protests broke out across the country, in Canary Wharf in London, Epping in Essex and Diss in Norfolk, as Reform UK leader Nigel Farage warned that Britain was close to “civil disobedience on a vast scale.”
Speaking at a Cabinet meeting yesterday, deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner said the Government needed to acknowledge “real concerns” about rapid change in order to defuse community tensions.
Sir Keir Starmer said Labour had to improve integration in areas that have experienced high levels of migration, reports The Times.
Meanwhile, Downing Street’s executive director of policy and delivery Liz Lloyd warned that social cohesion was “fraying at the edges.”
While Downing Street sources were quick to downplay that the Cabinet comments were in response to unrest in Essex, they stressed Starmer had been concerned since Southport about the unravelling of “unwritten rules that hold a nation together.”
Rayner said that “while Britain was a successful multi-ethnic, multi-faith country, the Government had to show it had a plan to address people’s concerns.”
It comes as further protests are planned outside the Epping hotel, with concerns that disorder may spiral.
Farage said earlier this week: “I don’t think anybody in London even understands just how close we are to civil disobedience on a vast scale in this country.”

Ann Widdecombe warns rational criticism of Islam ‘could fall foul of the law’
Ann Widdecombe slammed the hate crime laws in her monologue GB News
Reform UK’s justice spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe has warned that rational criticism of Islam could “fall foul of the law.”
It comes as Labour are backing proposals to crack down on Islamophobia which some have slammed as “blasphemy laws.”
Writing for GB News Members, Widdecombe said: “If it is not okay to mock Islam, then it is not OK to mock any other religion.
“If it is acceptable to take the name of the Lord in vain in contravention of the third commandment in Judeo-Christian teaching, then it is acceptable to take the name of the prophet in vain.”
James Cleverley said he would ‘not shadow’ Angela Rayner as he praises deputy PM for ‘successfully outmanoeuvring’ Keir Starmer
Sir James Cleverly will not shadow Angela Rayner in her role as deputy prime minister, he confirmed, after he was appointed as her opposition counterpart for housing.
He told ITV: “I’m the shadow Housing Secretary. In opposition, structures are different and requirements are different.
“And in terms of Deputy Prime Minister, I think that’s a job title, rather than a job, an excuse to have an even more bloated Civil Service hierarchy at the centre of Westminster.
“I think that is a reflection on how Angela Rayner has very successfully outmanoeuvred Keir Starmer at every turn, and has accumulated authority and power at the heart of government. And I don’t, I don’t feel the need to shadow that cumbersome bureaucracy.”
Sir Keir Starmer insists Labour are ‘cracking down’ on migrants working as food delivery riders
The Prime Minister has said “we will do what it takes” to illegal migrants working as delivery drivers.
It comes after a GB News investigation into food courier services such as Deliveroo and Just Eat have led to new tougher controls, aimed at stopping illegal immigrants being employed as delivery drivers.
Sir Keir Starmer wrote on social media: “We’re cracking down on migrants working illegally as food delivery riders.
“We’ll share asylum accommodation locations with Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats so they can take action if riders are staying there. We will do what it takes to ensure fairness for British people.”

A Conservative MP has warned Kemi Badenoch “doesn’t put a shift in” following yesterday’s reshuffle.
It comes as Tory backbenchers express doubt over whether the party leader can be proactive enough to put up a fight against Sir Keir Starmer.
One Conservative MP told Politico: “The impression that’s stuck around is that she doesn’t put a shift in.”
Keir Starmer coming under Cabinet pressure to recognise Palestinian state immediately
The Prime Minister is under increasing pressure from his own Cabinet members to immediately recognise Palestine as a state.
A number of senior Labour members have urged Sir Keir Starmer to press ahead with plans as the situation in Gaza grows more desperate.
While the Prime Minister has said he would recognise Palestine as part of a peace process, it would only be in conjunction with other western countries and “at the point of maximum impact”, without specifying what that means.
A Cabinet minister told The Guardian: “We say that recognising Palestinian statehood is a really important symbol that you can only do once. But if not now, then when?”
Among those who are believed to have brought up the humanitarian situation in Gaza and recognition of Palestinian statehood are Health Secretary Wes Streeting and Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood.

GB NEWS
Sir James Cleverley has told GB News he returned to frontline politics as Labour had made “so many mistakes.”
The new Shadow Housing Secretary said he was glad to have taken a “breather” since he finished third in last year’s leadership contest.
The MP for Braintree told the People’s Channel: “When Kemi spoke over the weekend and asked me to come back to the frontline I was delighted to.
“In the year since Labour came in, they have made so many mistakes and caused so many problems, that really I think we need to do everything we can to hold them to account. “
