Annual General Meeting 2025

On June 3, 2025, Friends of Science Society hosted our 2025 AGM virtually.  We find that the virtual platform allows more of our national and international members to participate, and so far we have had positive comments on this method.  We are now in our 23rd year of operation!

Friends of Science Society presented a power point showing statistics about our membership, country of origin, and financial information. Click Link

Our president, Ron Davison, P. Eng., gave a presentation in which he discussed the staggering financial commitments expected of Canadians in order to reach the mythical “Net Zero” target – which would result in an immeasurable effect on global warming.  However, such expenditures would be economically destructive and would burden our children and grandchildren with debt for generations.  In short, “All Pain for No Gain!” Click Link for the video.

Based on Ron’s terrifying financial analysis, Michelle Stirling, our Communications Manager, presented a compilation of the work we had done in the past year, titled: “Race FROM Net Zero.” Click Link for the video.

We like to offer our members and the general public a “Big Book of Blog Posts” to keep our past year’s collection of reports and articles in one handy, searchable place.

Most of you are familiar with our main website: www.friendsofscience.org .  If you missed it, we also have a short explainer video to help you maximize our incredible search engine:  Website Navigation

Refreshed and Refreshing – ClimateChange101.ca / ChangementsClimatique101.ca

Did you know that we have a plain language, bilingual website as well?  www.climatechange101.ca

This past year, we were able to refresh the look of ClimateChange101 / ChangementsClimatique101 and we are very pleased with the results.  Though we are still tweaking the website a bit and adding French language content, we are very pleased with the look and navigation.

Here are a few screenshots:

Still Going Strong – and now Racing FROM Net Zero

Friends of Science Society was founded by a group of earth, atmospheric, solar scientists, engineers and business professionals 22 years ago in Calgary, Alberta.

As an organization, we continue to draw on the science and policy expertise of those who were our past presenters over our >2 decades of annual and special events.  Dr. Madhav Khandekar, past IPCC expert reviewer, WHO regional expert, and a 40-year veteran of Environment Canada, remains our stalwart climate science advisor. We also consult and work closely with the CLINTEL international climate intelligence network of now 1,992 signatory scientists and scholars.

Many thanks to all of our loyal members and donors, our social media followers and subscribers and to those of you who take the time to comment on our videos or engage with us on social media.
