“President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him.”

Vice President JD Vance defended President Donald Trump amid the row with Elon Musk, saying that he is “proud to stand beside him.”

Vance wrote on Thursday night, “President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him.”

He added in a thread of posts Friday morning, “There are many lies the corporate media tells about President Trump. One of the most glaring is that he’s impulsive or short-tempered. Anyone who has seen him operate under pressure knows that’s ridiculous.”

“It’s (maybe) the single biggest disconnect between fake media perception and reality.”

Vance’s comments came as tensions boiled over on Thursday, with Musk in the days leading up to the row criticizing the “Big Beautiful Bill” working its way through Congress that includes tax provisions, spending for border security, and other measures that fulfill many campaign promises from Trump.

Trump said during an Oval Office meeting Thursday that Musk, “knew the inner workings of the bill better than anybody sitting here… He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden he had a problem and he only developed the problem when he found out we’re going to have to cut the EV mandate.”

Musk claimed in response to the comment, “False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!”

The two went back and forth throughout the day, with Musk accusing Trump of being in the Epstein files and saying that this was “the real reason they have not yet been made public.” Trump suggested that Musk’s government subsidies and contracts could be canceled to save money in the budget. Musk said Trump should be impeached, which would make Vance president.

Chief of staff Susie Wiles said on Friday that “there are no plans” for Trump and Musk to talk on Friday. ABC News’ Jon Karl said he spoke with Trump, and that the president is “not particularly interested in talking to Elon Musk … who he called, ‘a man who has lost his mind.'”
