Israel Says It Killed Two More Top Iranian Military Leaders As War Rages On
Israel said on Monday that it killed two more Iranian military commanders: the intelligence chief of the revolutionary guard corps and the head of the Quds Force undercover unit.
The former, Major General Majid Khademi, was killed overnight, a senior Israeli official told Fox News. “Khademi wasn’t just any figure, he was effectively number two within the IRGC, one of the few senior commanders who managed to survive multiple waves of Israeli and American targeting over the past year,” the official told Fox News. He had taken over for Gen. Mohammad Kazemi, who was killed in last year’s 12-day war between the countries.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz added in a statement that the killing took place in Tehran. “The Revolutionary Guard are shooting at civilians and we are eliminating the leaders of the terrorists,” he said. “Iran’s leaders live with a sense of being targeted. We will continue to hunt them down one by one.”
The latter official killed is Asghar Bakeri, Israeli spokesman Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani told press. He noted that Bakeri had planned attacks on Israeli and American targets, as well as operations in Israel, Syria and Lebanon.
Elsewhere, Israeli officials said that the country attacked the South Pars petrochemical plant at Asaluyeh. Katz described the facility as the largest one in the country and responsible for “50% of the country’s petrochemical production.” The Associated Press noted that a previous attack on the same facility catalyzed Iranian retaliation against oil and gas infrastructure across the Gulf.
The war continues in the meantime, with chances for the U.S. to reach a ceasefire with Iran before President Donald Trump’s deadline to increase the targeting of infrastructure including power plants and bridges are slim, according to another report.
Axios reported that the talks in question revolve around a potential 45-day ceasefire that could lead to a permanent end of the war. Citing four sources with knowledge of the talks, the outlet claimed that the talks are the last chance to prevent an escalation that could lead to the targeting of infrastructure that has civilian use, including power plants and bridges.
President Donald Trump told the outlet on Sunday that “deep negotiations” are taking place and a deal can’t be reached. However, he also published an expletive-ridden social media post threatening Tehran: “Open the Fu—n’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.”
Iran again rejected any compromise, warning of “far more severe and expansive” retaliation if the U.S. moves forward with the threat. “If attacks on civilian targets are repeated, the next phases of our offensive and retaliatory operations will be far more severe and extensive, and the resulting damage and losses will be multiplied,” a spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said in a statement.
