EXCLUSIVE: Floyd Brown says he was fired by Kennedy Center for opposing homosexual ‘marriage’ –

(LifeSiteNews) — “This is not something I expected or had ever imagined would happen to me,” Floyd Brown began in an exclusive interview with LifeSiteNews.
Until recently, Brown served as a vice president at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the premier entertainment venue in the nation’s capital.
One of the first moves by President Donald Trump after retaking the Oval Office was to clean house at the Kennedy Center by firing its board of trustees and replacing them with loyal MAGA supporters, including the appointment of Richard “Ric” Grenell as the Center’s president. Trump himself was then unanimously elected to serve as the board’s chairman.
Brown is well known within conservative circles. He previously helped found the conservative nonprofit Citizens United, served as an executive for Young America’s Foundation, and founded The Western Journal.
Christian, pro-Trump conservative Brown revealed in late May that he had been fired due to his “past writings and statements about traditional marriage and homosexual influence in the GOP.”
He was told, “You must recant your belief in traditional marriage and your past statements on the topic, or you will be fired.’”
When his conscience prevented him from doing so, he was immediately terminated.
“I never imagined they would cancel me,” Brown said, and that “they would get such an upper hand in our society, that our society would become so numb to sin and make-believe that they could turn the tables and start canceling Christians for having very orthodox beliefs.”
Q. It seems like, for the most part, conservative media have chosen to ignore your story. Are you disappointed in the lack of coverage by conservative outlets?
“I’m learning a lot about the conservative movement and the Republican Party, and even the MAGA movement. What I’m realizing is that I’m estranged with them on their positions towards gay ‘marriage’ and abortion.
“I’ve always been a Trump supporter and I’m still a Trump supporter, (but) I never realized the extent to which the elites of the MAGA movement and the Republican Party have so embraced a pro-abortion and pro-gay ‘marriage’ stance.
“Both are issues that MAGA and GOP elites are working to keep.
“I’ve become aware that there are very few that don’t hold the same positions that Donald Trump holds (on same-sex ‘marriage’ and abortion). So it’s not an issue they want to cover.
“But it is an issue with which they are deeply disconnected with a large constituency that supported Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.
“They have used this cloak of silence to mislead Christians as to what Donald Trump’s positions are on these issues.
“The Trump administration is supposed to be about ending the ‘cancel culture,’ but I was canceled for my Christian beliefs,” Brown explained. “And because of who I was canceled by — a major leader in the MAGA movement — there’s no coverage in conservative media and no real interest in the story.”
Q. Floyd, for the record, are you able to definitely draw a direct line between your firing and Ric Grenell?
“The direct line for me is: My boss received a call from Ric Grenell and then she fired me. She told me that Grenell ordered my firing.”
“She didn’t want to fire me. She made that clear at the time.”
Q. Do you plan any legal action against the Kennedy Center and/or Ric Grenell?
As a result of his termination, Brown said he has lost his source of income and his health care. He said he also leased an apartment in D.C., for which he no longer has any need. Brown explained that he has hired a Washington attorney who was formerly a Justice Department official to determine what legal avenues, if any, are available to him.
“Our research shows that the Kennedy Center may have some immunity from civil suits because of its relationship with the federal government,” he noted.
“A legal complaint has been drafted, but to be honest, I haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to file. I’m praying about that and seeking advice. I have not made a final decision.”
Q. Has anybody reached out to you from the Trump administration or the Kennedy Center to offer any kind of support or condolences?
“No. I tried reaching out to them. The White House’s position is, ‘Well, the Kennedy Center isn’t part of the government.’”
Brown said he has also “repeatedly tried to talk to Grenell. He refuses to speak to me.”
“Ric Grenell is a self-professed, born-again Christian,” Brown explained. “When you have a dispute with a fellow follower of Christ, you’re supposed to try and work that out between yourselves and not seek court solutions at first blush.”
“I was attempting to follow what I believe are biblical instructions about how to deal with a fellow believer,” Brown said. “That’s why I’ve reached out to him repeatedly.”
