(LifeSiteNews) — Bishop Marian Eleganti said in an exclusive interview with LifeSiteNews that the Western world “eradicates” itself through abortion, low birth rates, and mass migration.

Asked about how most people view abortion in Europe, Bishop Eleganti said: “How can this be seen as an achievement when we are eradicating ourselves?”

“ We have a reproduction rate of 1.2 everywhere in every country, give or take a few,” the former auxiliary bishop of the Swiss diocese of Chur said, referring to the low birth rates in Europe.

“It’s inevitable that we will cease to exist in two or three generations,” he warned.

“ But immigration is not a solution either,” Bishop Eleganti noted. “It creates so many new problems for our societies that it cannot even be seen as a solution to the shortage of skilled workers.”

“This has already become completely implausible; it is not about skilled workers for the most part, let alone the fact that we as a nation are dying out.”

He said that people must be delusional not to “see the truth and still think that liberalizing abortion and the high number of abortions, which never seem to decrease, is a benefit to society.”

Bishop Eleganti called the practice of late-term abortion “barbaric” and said that it is common sense to recognize that an unborn baby is a human being.

“ Entire societies would have to beat their chests and say that this was a mistake,” he states, referring to the legalization and promotion of abortion.

“We have actually destroyed our future in two ways, because this immigration will also destroy us.”

“It will destroy culture, traditional culture, and above all, for us, the Christian values that have contributed so much to humanizing societies, but not only that,” he said.

“Nothing better will come of it if we set fire to churches and knock over saints and defile them with paint and so on. Nothing better will come of it.”

Asked about the Islamization of Europe and the fact that many European cities could be majority Muslim in a few decades, Bishop Eleganti replied: “Islam is an anti-Christian religion and, of course, also anti-Jewish, but it is explicitly an anti-Christian religion.”

“Islam also is a system of governance at the same time, and [it] poses [a] threat to Christianity and to freedom, to religious freedom,” he added.

”Wherever Islam is in charge, Christianity is suppressed, and Christianity is just one of the so-called non-believing religions,” he warned. “So, no, we don’t have a bright future ahead of us.”

“If you look out into the world and look at Africa, at the Congo, and see the enormous problems everywhere, the Muslims think differently and they don’t want to integrate.”

“The more devout they [Muslims] are, the more they want to implement the Koran and Sharia law.”

“That is a genuine part of Islam,” he stressed. “It is not Islamism, it is Islam.”

“And that is incompatible with the secular state and with our civil laws and civil law achievements,” Bishop Eleganti continued. “It is incompatible, and these believers do not take these laws seriously either, only as long as they benefit them, but once they have the majority vote, they will abolish them.”

The faithful also need to take the supernatural view, he said. “St. John clearly states that any spirit that denies the God came in the flesh, that denies the incarnation of God, denies the sonship of Jesus, and the normativity of Jesus for all humanity, is the spirit of the Antichrist.”

Despite these bleak predictions for the future, Bishop Eleganti stressed that he has eternal hope in Jesus Christ.

“God will prevail, and I trust in the power of prayer, and I trust in the power of Jesus the Savior, and I trust that God will not allow anything more than what ultimately serves His plans for salvation.”
