Eamonn Holmes has shared a message of support for GB News’ Ben Leo after The Late Show Live presenter announced a major expansion of his role at GB News in the United States.

The 36-year-old broadcaster revealed he has taken on an additional title as GB News’ Chief US Correspondent for 2026.

Ben will continue to host The Late Show Live alongside Bev Turner, who presents the programme from Monday to Thursday, while expanding his remit to on-the-ground correspondence across America.

Sharing the news on social media, Ben wrote: “I’m about to board a flight back to Washington for what’s going to be a mega year in America. I’ll still be hosting The Late Show Live but, for 2026, as GB News’ Chief US Correspondent too!

“Buzzing for the 250th celebration of American independence, the World Cup and letting GB News viewers back in Blighty know how they’re doing things stateside.

“What a privilege. Can’t wait to share the adventure with you guys.”

Fans of the People’s Channel presenter were quick to congratulate him, praising his reporting and on-screen presence.

“Congratulations Ben, you’re an awesome presenter and reporter and a huge asset to GB News,” one supporter wrote.

Another added: “Congratulations on what I perceive to be a promotion and well deserved. I love your reporting. Welcome back to the free states of America.”

A third commented: “Congratulations Ben, you’ll do an outstanding job,” while another said: “Well done Ben — we knew they would love you too.”

Mr Holmes also offered his backing, writing: “No better man to do all that Ben.”

Before moving into television in 2022, Ben worked as a print journalist at The Sun and The Argus.

Throughout his presenting career, Ben has gained significant attention for his confrontational interview style and high-profile subjects.

The presenter has become known for a series of high-profile and often confrontational interviews, including a world-exclusive sit-down with Donald Trump in Washington DC in November 2025, which featured behind-the-scenes access to the Rose Garden and covered US energy prices, Trump’s affinity for the UK and his views on Nigel Farage.

Around the same time, Ben’s interview with Dr Helen Webberley went viral, amassing more than 14 million views.

During the interview, he challenged her over the prescribing of puberty blockers to minors, with the fiery exchange becoming a major talking point around gender ideology and child safeguarding.

As a regular GB News presenter, Ben has also interviewed Nigel Farage on numerous occasions during Reform UK’s rise in 2025, frequently questioning him on proposals such as a “Minister for Deportations” and the impact of illegal migration.

He is equally recognised for his “man-on-the-street” reporting style, confronting anti-Trump protesters in Washington who branded Trump a fascist, challenging Palestine Action demonstrators in Westminster over their views on Hamas and the legality of their protests, and clashing with environmental activists over hostility towards motorists and the practicality of 20mph zones.

Most recently, he engaged in a heated on-air debate with former press secretary Jo Phillips over the meaning of Britishness and the significance of the St George’s flag.

Despite his new roles in the USA, Mr Leo has previously reassured fans that he remains fully committed to Britain’s news channel.

Speaking to viewers as he made his original announcement of his move over to America, he said: “It was announced this week that I am departing the Good Ship GB News UK for GB News America.

“I’m not leaving GB News, I’m not doing a runner. I would never leave GB News, at least not at the moment.”
