(LifeSiteNews) — The board of Turning Point USA announced on Thursday that it had unanimously elected Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point’s recently assassinated co-founder, president, and CEO Charlie Kirk, as the organization’s new CEO and chair of the board.
Turning Point’s September 18 announcement via X highlighted that Charlie had told multiple executives that he wanted his wife to replace him in the event of his death. Since Charlie’s untimely murder, Erika Kirk had vowed that his legacy and mission would continue.
“It was the honor of our lives as board members at Charlie’s side. Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one,” the announcement states. “He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests.”
“And now, it is our great pride to announce Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board for Turning Point USA.”

Charlie Kirk, 31, was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University’s campus as part of Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback Tour” on September 10. In addition to Erika, he left behind two young children.

Charlie was extraordinarily influential both politically and culturally. He has been credited with helping Donald Trump secure a second term as president, and he was also known for respectfully engaging students on campuses across the country about a wide variety of issues, including abortion, Christianity, and the Constitution.
An evangelical Christian, Kirk deeply impacted many people across the globe and has inspired a significant number to go to church and explore or embrace Christianity. He was reportedly attending Catholic Mass with Erika, a Catholic, and their children, and praying the Rosary.
Just two days after Charlie’s death, Erika, 36, offered an emotional tribute to her late husband, in which she vowed to continue his mission and never let his legacy die.
“To everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die,” she said. “I refuse to let that happen… No one will ever forget my husband’s name, and I will make sure of it. It will become stronger, bolder, louder, and greater than ever.”

Indeed, Turning Point also emphasized in its announcement that the organization would carry on Charlie’s legacy.
“All of us at Turning Point USA have a special role in carrying Charlie Kirk’s mantle and completing his vision of bringing us all closer to our Lord and fostering a prosperous country for generations to come,” the statement read.
“We will not surrender or kneel before evil. We will carry on. The attempt to destroy Charlie’s work will become our chance to make it more powerful and enduring than ever before.”
