Canadians say ‘we are BETTER than you’ and boast ‘we have free healthcare’ as they tear into US after Trump tariffs

Anti-American sentiment is growing across Canada following President Trump’s recent imposition of steep tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminium.
GB News star Steven Edginton, who has been travelling through America’s northern neighbour, has encountered increasingly critical views of the United States.
The 25 per cent tariffs, which Trump threatened to double if Canada did not suspend its new surcharge on electricity exports, have sparked resentment among Canadians.
This comes as Trump has repeatedly suggested that Canada should become the “51st state” of America.
“They’re totally ignorant,” the same person added bluntly.
This sentiment was echoed by others Edginton spoke with during his travels, revealing a growing frustration with what many Canadians perceive as American insularity.
The tensions have been exacerbated by the recent trade dispute between the two nations.
Many Canadians expressed a sense of superiority over Americans during Steven’s interviews.

“I think Canadian society is much more sophisticated and open-minded. It’s a society that isn’t so violent,” one person stated.
They added: “We don’t carry guns around and shoot people. We talk with them.”
Another Canadian was even more direct: “I don’t think we feel better than Americans, I think we know we are.”
Healthcare was also cited as a point of pride. “We have a lot of free healthcare which is very nice. It’s safer, less crime and it’s a better place to live.”

Trump has repeatedly suggested that Canada should become part of the United States.
“The only thing that makes sense is for Canada to become our cherished Fifty First State. This would make all Tariffs, and everything else, totally disappear,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
During a press conference with Elon Musk, Trump pitched the supposed benefits, claiming Canadians would see reduced taxes.
He also questioned the international boundary between the two nations, calling it an “artificial line” that “makes no sense.”
Trump argued statehood would provide Canada with greater security “militarily and otherwise.”
Canadians firmly rejected the idea of becoming America’s 51st state during Edginton’s interviews.
“No way. They have a dictator right now,” one Canadian responded when asked about the possibility.
The same person emphasised Canada’s different national character: “The last thing we are is aggressors. If anything, we’re peacekeepers.”
