Million Person March for Children continues to bring together Canada’s faith community

“And the Million People March is reaffirming our unity, our commitment to that Canadian flag as one nation under God, one nation, one flag, and that’s the Canadian flag.”

The third annual Million People March for Children may have reached its numerical goal on Saturday as Canadians of all faiths came together across the country Saturday to oppose gender ideology in the public school system.

The march attracted about 100 people to Parliament Hill as various protests rocked the national capital throughout the day. In the past the event has attracted aggressive counter-protests from opposing groups and public service unions. At least one Canadian politician has successfully implemented pro-parent policies. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has pushed back against so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors and is removing pornographic material from elementary school libraries. She has even pledged to use the Canadian Constitution’s notwithstanding clause to stymie any court challenges to those policies.

Organizer Kamel El-Sheikh told The Post Millennial that Canada is on the precipice of either great change or potential disaster and said we live in “crazy” times as he cited the ongoing stand-off at an ostrich farm near Kelowna, BC where the Liberal government is threatening to kill 399 of their healthy birds because avian flu might have been detected in the herd last November.

He noted that most Canadians are just focused on how they “are going to put food on the table” with “an unsustainable consumer price index.”

“And then there’s also the question of, ‘I love my kids,’” El-Sheikh said “And when a politician, a sitting politician, says that there are no Canadian parental rights in Canada, that’s concerning to a lot of Canadians, and what we say is this event is for every loving mother, every loving father and grandparent, aunts and uncles and friends that have kids that say we trust Canada’s parents to parent Canada’s kids, it’s a very simple idea, but at this time, with this uncertainty and all these isms and paradigms, somehow it’s seen as taboo in the past couple of years, and that’s concerning to a lot of Canadians.”

“And the Million People March is reaffirming our unity, our commitment to that Canadian flag as one nation under God, one nation, one flag, and that’s the Canadian flag. What we’re saying is we trust Canada’s parents to parent Canada’s kids. And the Million People March is a testament to that. It’s an affirmation. It’s bringing parents together and telling the nation, the unions, the corporations and radical Pride … that we trust Canada’s parents to Canada’s kids, and I’m repeating that again because it’s an affirmation that’s echoed throughout the country.”

When reminded that Official Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre has sometimes referred to a potential future Conservative administration as a “mind your own business government,” El-Sheikh noted that that is precisely what the march is all about: getting the government out of the lives of Canadian families and getting gender ideology and LGBTQ indoctrination out of the school system.

Participating in the march for the first time was Jackson Trip, who said he’s lost faith in a Canada where “there’s too much crime and corruption in our country, our children aren’t safe anymore, and today we have a march for the children. Hands off our children … I’m just here to spread awareness, take part and to see things for myself, instead of waiting for CTV to tell me what they want me to believe.”

“I definitely believe that parents should have the right to raise their own children. I was raised in a time where it was under my roof. It’s my rules. When you left the house, you abided by society’s regulations and standards. You went to school and you followed the rules at school when you listened to your teacher. There’s definitely been a slide in authority figures, and I’m not sure how to reverse that. I don’t think that’s so easy, but parents need to be able to raise their kids how they want them in the belief systems, whatever it may be [in terms of] religion or morals.”

Alice Yung, who traveled from the Greater Vancouver area to participate in the march, came to Canada 28 years ago from communist China. She said she has watched her adopted country become more like the dictatorship and compared the social pressure invoked by governments and the media in Canada to the Red Guards who enforced Maoist philosophy in the China that she grew up in. “You know, definitely we are under dictatorship … The first time I realized Canada is a socialist country, is when I realized why milk, eggs, bread, why everything so expensive: because we have supply management, not supply chain management. It’s a totally different thing. Supply management is the same thing with Chinese central planning, economic policy. It’s built up and by the bureaucrats not to the free market.”
