White House, JD Vance slam WSJ over publication of Trump Epstein birthday letter: 'No one is falling for this BS'

“As I have said all along, it’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it.”

The Wall Street Journal on Monday reported that Jeffrey Epstein’s estate had provided to Congress “a copy of the letter” the Journal says was written by Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003. That letter was part of a “birthday book” of letters presented to Epstein on the occasion of his 50th birthday.

That image shows a drawing of a nude woman’s silhouette with text, the signature, “Donald,” where the woman’s pubic hair would be. The Journal provided the copy to Congress in response to a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee, helmed by Rep. James Comer (R-KY).

The Journal reported that House Oversight confirmed they had received a copy of the entire “birthday book,” though only the alleged Trump letter has been made public.

“President Trump called the Epstein investigation a hoax and claimed that his birthday note didn’t exist. Now we know that Donald Trump was lying and is doing everything he can to cover up the truth,” the Journal reported Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) as saying. “Enough of the games and lies, release the full files now.”

They said they reached out to the White House for comment but hadn’t received one back by the time they published their article.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed the report, saying that it “PROVES this entire ‘Birthday Card’ story is false.”

“As I have said all along, it’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it,” she went on.

“President Trump’s legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation. Furthermore, the ‘reporter’ @joe_palazzolo who wrote this hatchet job reached out for comment at the EXACT same minute he published his story giving us no time to respond.

“This is FAKE NEWS to perpetuate the Democrat Epstein Hoax!”

Vice President JD Vance also weighed in, saying, “The Democrats don’t care about Epstein. They don’t even care about his victims. That’s why they were silent about it for years. The only thing they care about is concocting another fake scandal like Russiagate to smear President Trump with lies. No one is falling for this BS.”

Reps. Robert Garcia and Ro Khanna (D-CA) both asked for the entire book to be released. The Journal conducted a signature analysis, comparing the “Donald” signature to other signatures verifiably from Trump during a period of years prior and after 2003.

They also compare the drawing of the woman to drawings Trump has done of buildings at other times. The language of the brief missive is also compared to other writings from Trump along with comparisons to his spoken words.

The Journal had published an article on the birthday letter in July. Trump and the White House denied it at the time. Trump brought a libel suit against the Wall Street Journal reporters, the Dow Jones, Rupert Murdoch, and News Corp over the report.
